Starting with the brush, daily maintenance takes just a few seconds. After use, simply remove hair strands from your brush. This will help keep hair, skin cells, and styling product residue from building up so quickly.
Every month or so it’s a good idea to give your hairbrush a shampoo. Yes, like you would soap up your scalp, your brush may just need a good scrub too.
Now onto your hair dryer. Like all electronic appliances, it needs maintenance too. Whether you’ve spent $20 dollars or $300 dollars on the model of your choice, you want your tool to last and perform well each time you go to blow dry and style.
As when cleaning any appliance, you obviously want to make sure it’s unplugged first. The filter on the back of your hairdryer needs to come off. Some twist off and others you may need to use a screwdriver on.
Hold the filter under cool to warm running water for a few seconds until all the dust comes off. Dry with a paper towel or lint-free cloth. Be sure the filter is completely dry before reattaching it.
If your hair dryer filter cannot be removed, consider using a dry toothbrush on the parts of the filter you can reach, so as to remove dirt and dust. Another option would be a gentle vacuum hose attachment.
