Driving to the gym may be the last thing you want to do after a long day at work. Or setting the alarm clock an hour earlier to fit in exercise before work is definitely out of the question. You still want to get fit and be healthier though, so what can you do?
These three super simple exercises can be done anywhere, anytime. They’re not too strenuous, requires zero equipment or workout machines, and they get your body moving!
Use Your Feet
Choose walking when you have the option. This may mean picking a parking space that’s a bit farther from the building, taking the stairs instead of the elevator, or using 10-15 minutes of your lunch break to walk around the block.
Walking is a great exercise since it involves the entire body. Remember to breathe deep as you go for even more bodily benefits.
Stretch At Your Desk
Sitting for extended periods of time is hard on the body. If your job requires a lot of desk work, you can still fit in some exercise between emails.
Something as simple as stretching your legs straight out under your desk as you sit can give them some room to keep the blood moving and improve circulation. Pump your feet forward and backward with your legs extended and you’ll feel the lower body stretch this offers.
While you’re talking on the phone, it’s a great time to get out of your chair and on your feet. If you’re waiting on hold for example, this could be an opportunity to fit in some quick squats and lunges.
Stand Up
At your desk or when you’re home for the evening on the couch, be sure to stand up frequently (about every 30 minutes). It sounds too simple to mention, but standing up prompts the body to burn more calories, and encourage lymphatic movement.
Establishing an exercise regime can be a difficult thing, but the busyness of life doesn’t have to hold us back from exercise goals. Implementing simple, everyday tips like these can work fitness into even the busiest of crazy days.
