If you’ve never tried a menstrual cup before, the concept may seem a bit intimidating at first, but once you know how, the Tampon Tribe cup will have you wondering why you didn’t make the switch earlier!
So, here’s how to use a menstrual cup:
With clean hands, simply fold the soft menstrual cup so that it looks like a tampon. (If you wet the cup with clean water first, this can help it insert more comfortably.) Aim it toward the back of your vagina and give a little push. It should draw itself up. Once the cup is in your vagina, rotate it. It will “spring open”, creating a seal that keeps leaks from happening. When properly inserted, you shouldn’t really feel its presence at all.
To remove the cup when full, with clean hands place your index finger and thumb into your vagina. Pull the stem of the cup gently until you feel the cup’s base. Pinch to release the seal and pull down to slide the cup out. Once out, simply empty the cup contents into the toilet, sink, or shower. Wash the cup, wiping it clean before inserting again into your vagina.
